Hobros has created a new high-quality infused olive oil with real black summer truffles (tuber aestivum) and a natural black truffle aroma. Solely using an award-winning single-vineyard, single-variety Spanish extra virgin olive oil as the base, we create our truffle infusion from a combination of real black summer truffles and a natural black truffle aroma that is derived from plants as opposed to the more common method of using a completely laboratory-synthesised chemical product. We have additionally infused a hint of rosemary and nutmeg to add extra depth of flavour and savouriness to the wonderfully heady aroma of the finished oil.
Guild of Fine Foods comments mentioned the "strong truffle aroma and the promise of other inclusions comes through on the nose. Certainly a complex flavour - all of the stated elements are apparent", "this rosemary comes through clearly on the palate, creating an interesting backdrop for the truffle. These being both strong flavours, there were moments as this flavour developed where they seemed to be in competition, rather than working harmoniously together. Both win out in the aftertaste, however, which we felt was pleasingly savoury, rounded and herbaceous" and "a tasty product, and worthy of recognition."
